Menopause and Constipation

With the various changes in the women's body during menopause, the digestive system also slows down. Given the added impact of anxiety, depression and mood swings, women tend to respond by indulging in food cravings... eating all the wrong kind of foods and even over eating...  With the gastrointestinal system and liver no longer as responsive as before menopause, this creates constipation.

The best way of dealing with constipation during menopause is by:

  •  Eating lots of fiber. This can be easily obtained by eating lots of raw fiber rich vegetables and fruits.

  • Taking small meals. Instead of taking 3 main meals a day. Take more meals with smaller portions or servings. This will make the food easier to digest by your body.

  •  Eating healthy foods. Keep your diet balanced with food from all the major food groups. Make raw fruits and vegetables a major part of your diet plan.
