How To Work Less and Achieve More
- How to Achieve Your Goals
"All Work and no Play Makes
Jack a Dull Boy!"
"To do great work a man must
be very idle as well as very industrious." -- Samuel Butler
The harder you work the
less likely it is that you will get the results you desire.
You have probably heard
of phrases like 'don’t work hard, work smart'. Or 'genius is 99% sheer hard work
and only 1% inspiration'. Also you may have heard that 'only 20% of your efforts
produce 80% of the results' in your life.
So stop efforting, stop
working hard, and first get in touch with that 20% that will produce all the
results...
But if you follow
this advice that is very commonly given by all the success and leadership gurus
out there, you will face a 'What comes first... The Chicken or the Egg' kind of
situation. For to unravel the mystery of the productive 20%, you first need to
uncover it through the sheer mass of the 80%. How can you put the horse before
the cart?
Here is how to plan and achieve a goal for maximum
achievement:
|
-
What you really
need to do is get very clear with that inner urge that is making you do
all that work. Is what you are doing in
alignment with your inner beliefs? Is it something you really want to
do? once your inner and outer beliefs are in total alignment,
there is no task so great that cannot be achieved... You can achieve
your greatest dreams just by aligning your beliefs.
-
Balance Your Life -- Are you totally
and completely relaxed as you work?.. . you need to sleep well, do
regular physical work outs. Make time to do something you intensely
enjoy. Be physically healthy. Probably do some meditative deep
breathing. Who knows but your 'Eureka!' moment might strike under the
proverbial shower, so do take long, warm, relaxing showers/ baths.
-
Have you
developed success consciousness using the power of affirmations I
can..., I will..., I am.... .
-
Have you tapped
into the creative power of your subconscious mind to obtain the right
solutions/insights to your problems?
-
Are you doing what you are really good
at ... yes you need to focus more on your strengths rather than your
weaknesses.
-
Are you working
smart and not hard? Here the tip is to simplify your life as much as you
can. Delegate what you cannot do. Organize, sort, prioritize and focus
on what needs to be done.
-
Learn to say no
and eliminate diversions, people who demand your time unrealistically,
excessive television, meaningless tasks, unnecessary telephone calls and
meetings.
-
Are your efforts
geared towards the 20% of activities that will give you the 80% of
results?
-
Is what you are
doing bringing you closer to your goals or taking you away from it?
Here to explain further how to leverage
yourself with your inner potential, I will use an excerpt from Ben
Sweetland's famous book 'Sleep Your Way to Wealth':
"Five rules are given here for you to
follow in gaining full and satisfying cooperation from your Creative Mind.
1. Before retiring, relax thoroughly—both mentally and physically.
2. Think of your problem. Think it through—but do not fear it. If you were
to give a job to another person, you would have to explain what you wanted
done. This is true with your
Creative Mind. You are about to give it a special assignment, so it is
necessary that you have clearly in mind just what it is you desire from
your Creative Mind. Do not fear it, because you will be turning it over to
an intelligence far greater than the intelligence of your conscious mind.
3. Gain a Success Attitude. If you have developed faith in your Creative
Mind, it will be easy to have a success attitude. You will know that it is
able, ready and willing to serve you.
4. After you have gone this far, remove all thoughts of the problem from
your conscious mind, knowing that the solution will be forthcoming at the
right time.
Let's say, for example, that you have an important appointment at ten
o'clock tomorrow morning, at which time you must make a momentous
decision. You are calling upon your Creative Mind this evening to help you
to make the right decision. After you have progressed through the routine
given above, merely turn the whole thing over to your Creative
Mind—knowing that before ten o'clock tomorrow you will have the answer.
You'll be amazed to find what will
happen. Tomorrow morning you will awaken and find thoughts coming into
your consciousness as to what you should do, and with this knowledge will
be the reasons why you should take such a step—or why you should avoid it.
The succession of ideas will be so logical you will not be able to doubt
it"

extremely hard, steal a moment. Relax.
