A Gift From The Universe

Dear fellow human being, unique energy signature and internet friend,

The strangest thing happened to me recently. I call it strange because it’s simply not a normal everyday occurrence. Though it is frequently reported as happening, more so to some people then others. So at the very least it’s unusual and can even be labeled outright bizarre.

Now here I was surfing the web as usual, I came across a sales letter for a very famous book. I read it through and had an intense longing to read it. I wished I had the $ 29.97 to spare on it. This is not the strange part. Though what happened next is somewhat unusual, barely three days later someone emailed me with the download link for that very same e-book and I was able to satisfy my cravings!

Now, Now... please don’t turn away with a smirk. I know what you are thinking,

"Shahnaz has gone dotty in her prime... first addressing me as a ‘unique energy signature’, then placing undue importance to a mere synchronous occurrence, some good luck or just pure chance. It happens all the time on the net. She needs to take it slow for a while..."

Hey friend... No don’t turn away. I am perfectly fine in my ‘attic’ and will soon explain why a nuts and bolts, ‘there is an explanation for every thing’, hard wired, number centric engineer gal appears to have gone dotty in the budding prime of her life.

What really scared the living daylights out of me was not that I got to read a book that I longed for without paying for it. What’s strange is that there has been a repeat performance without fail three times in a row! First I long for it, then a few days later I get to read it without literally lifting a finger.

Okay, the first time is pure chance, the second time sheer good luck, being at the right place at the right time or pure synchronicity of events, but a third time...

Hey, give me a break... Remember I am an engineer. A mad scientist who works in the labs trying to figure out all sorts of connections and equations. Everything happens for a reason. Everything has a recipe - a building block, an amino acid, an atom, a molecule.

Okay in new age mumbo jumbo it may be called a synchronous event, an extra sensory perception [ESP], a sixth sense, a creative visualization, a gift from the universe...

And then it happened a fourth time!

I am scared out of my wits.

• Why me?

• What’s happening?

• What am I doing?

• How is it happening?

• Am I somehow transferring my thought processes into reality?

So I step back, let my engineer mind take over and analyze all the strange or conveniently paced events in my life. Remember the scientists first rule... gather all the data, test results, statistics, samples etc first before working out the equations and blue prints.

Okay, so there was that time in my life when I applied for admission to my engineering college. 17 (or more) full fledged members of the university senate voted against my admission. And there was one man. One very strong man. A person I did not know even existed who stood up and voted for me... the dean of the engineering college. And he stood by it until I was through. Yes, as a gawking teenager I was helped by a total stranger in a situation I could hardly defend myself.

Okay, can I be so arrogant as to claim that I was a brilliant promising student.  Perhaps, but I don’t really think I was that talented.

Was it sheer luck, or God or the universe being extra kind to me?

Fat chance... I don’t think I am so special.

And then there was a repeat performance... at my first major job as an engineer, in an equally remote and ‘displaced in time’ locality. I was selected from among sixty super qualified candidates for the job, even though my immediate supervising manager and general manager were hopping mad against my appointment! But the guy at the top... the executive director of the company -- a total stranger to me -- insisted on hiring me. Again helped by a total stranger.

And then it struck again... when the homing instincts started haunting me. I was looking to get married, a guy I had not met for 27 years even though I had known him since I was two, walked into my life at just the right moment, and I am blissfully married to him, we have an active five year old son.

Then there were several other unexplainable happenings.

Yes, so far I have always got what I intensely wanted. Often against great odds, against great competitions, in totally strange and unusual ways. Total strangers have gone out of their ways to help me... and I have a feeling I am not powerless. I feel God or the universe is helping me, and I am thankful from the depths of my soul.

However the frequency of such occurrences is kind of disconcerting to me. It’s challenging my scientific left half of the brain. My ingrained thinking and investigative patterns are in tatters. I have an urgent need to convince myself that I am normal. I need to explain these occurrences to myself.

So dear reader, I hope you understand now why a hard brained brick and mortar, cable and electron engineer could no longer ignore new age theories as mere balderdash.

This quest charged my foray into the investigation of success theories, motivation, goal setting, abundance thinking, money theories, creative visualization, the art of manifesting, meditation, self help, unconventional healing, human psychology, getting rich theories and what not. I read hundreds if not thousands of books, reports, articles, periodicals whatever I could lay my hands on. I even tried several procedures with varying degrees of success until ultimately...
