Nine Reasons Why You Loose TrafficThe web has created a generation of surfers with an impatient state of mind. They are constantly in motion. Fluttering from site to site, hurrying, trying to assimilate as much as possible in a very short time. Naturally, the attention span has shrunk. They cannot stay still or focused for a minute. The information explosion, the impatient web surfer, the inherent competition, all three have joined forces to make life difficult for you, the lone web owner trying to compete for attention. Struggling to make a living by staying on top and conquering all three. Yes you can command and conquer if you know your enemy. Remember, knowledge is power. Don’t let that precious traffic drain away from your site. Grab it. To make your life simpler, I have outlined the nine most common reasons why I or any other impatient web surfer will click out of your site as soon as they enter it. 1. If it takes more than 10 seconds to load – Make your site design as simple as possible. Don’t hamper it with slow loading pictures, banners or images. If you are on the web to make money, the simpler and faster loading the site the better. 2. If there are too many pop-up windows – Don’t test your visitor’s patience. You will loose. If pop-up windows are essential at all, put them on exit. 3. If it projects an amateurish image – No one wants to do business with an amateur. Design your site to project a serious, professional look. 4. If there are too many banners on the site – Too many banners tend to confuse your visitors, make your site slow loading and make it look amateurish. Avoid this. 5. If it is not easily navigable – No one will spend several precious minutes trying to reach some information on your site. Make your site navigation simple. Make all links easily accessible. 6. If it has a dark or black background (This color kind of depresses or puts too much of strain on the eyes). Use a dark background only if you have a damn professional design. 7. If it is not easily readable – The average web surfer simply flits through your site and reads only what catches his interest. So break up your writing into small paragraphs. Highlight points of interest. Make your visitor feel as if they are ‘not reading’. 8. If it is not impressive/ visually attractive – No one wants to enter a cluttered, disorganized, difficult looking web site. 9. Finally, if the content is not to interest – This factor is important too. So try and get targeted traffic to your site. Though chances are that if your site is very well organized and looks appealing, even impartial passersby will stop and take a look. More Articles to Help you design and advertise your website:
