How To Use Pop Ups As A Marketing Tool

Though Pop-ups are bothersome. However as a special marketing strategy you will install just one pop up either on load or unload of your home page.

It is a well known fact that first time visitors to your site do not buy right away. Your sales message has to be repeated between 7-10 times. So to maximize your conversion ratio, your marketing strategy should be geared towards getting people signed up for your mailing list/ezine etc. You can achieve this successfully through Pop up windows:

Your home page outlines your sales message; a first time visitor is sufficiently interested in your product but not in the ‘buying mode’; A window pops up outlining the benefits of joining, some free incentives and a request to join your mailing list. The instincts trigger a response and you have a new prospect!

Designing an effective pop up is a deceptively simple two step process:

1.Design your HTML page to appear in the pop up. This should basically be an advertisement comprising a heading, three or four benefit loaded lines and your subscription link. For better effect, convert your text to table, merge cells, align left. Set the page background color to your site color. Upload this page to your server as ‘newsletter.html’.

2.Insert the following code in the <body> tag of your home page:

You may change the ‘ONLOAD’ to ‘ONUNLOAD’; adjust the height and width to suit your preferences; delete the ‘scrollbars=yes’ option if you don’t want scroll bars.
