-The
'Ctrl plus F'
key on your keyboard brings up the 'find' function. Particularly useful when reading e-mails
you need to find the Ad Code, Ad published twice etc. Also good for find
requirements in word documents or even excel.
-The
'Ctrl plus N'
keys open up a new window. Excellent when reading emails, you need to visit
some other link without exiting your email program. Or you need to open two
e-mails in the same account at the same time, or compose a reply with the
email open in front of you. Or... the possibilities are endless.

- Ctrl plus A -
Selects all the material on the window /screen
- Ctrl plus X
- is the keyboard shortcut for the 'cut' operation.
- Ctrl plus C -
keyboard shortcut for copy function - particularly useful when the right click
pop up menu is disabled in some program, or the copy function has been
disabled in a document, can even be used in unsecure pdf files to copy data
onto clipboard.
(Shift plus F2 also
does the copy function)
- Ctrl plus V -
pastes the data previously copied onto a clipboard -
I have found the 'ctrl
plus c and the ctrl plus V keyboard shortcuts extremely useful in
copying data from pdf files into a word document--
( I know the general consensus is that you
cannot copy from a PDF file- but it is totally possible if the file is not
password protected - I was once given a PDF file with 1000 pages of closely
written text to somehow convert into word and make it editable, the project
Manager had been going crazy with worry over it for the better part of a whole
week -- it took me all of 2 minutes -- I went Ctrl A to
select all, Ctrl C to copy to clipboard, and Ctrl V to paste into word).
It is also useful for copying from emails
into a word or excel document or when you are working in two different
programs (such as word and excel ) at the same time, and you need to copy and
paste from one document to the other.
Ctrl plus P -
brings up the print window in case if you need to print a document without
being able to access the print function in any other way.
PrtScn Key n
symbol Captures a screen shot of the active window onto the clipboard, you can
then press Ctrl plus V to paste this screen shot in your program of choice
such as word, Microsoft Frontpage or excel XP.
Alt Plus PrtScn is
another useful function it can print screen shots exclusively of the
resized window - not the whole window. Useful when you want to select what you
want to show.
Ctrl plus K is
another useful keyboard shortcut - when you need to insert a hyperlink , ctrl
plus K brings up the hyperlink box.
The F1 key brings
up the Microsoft help box.
Shift plus F1 helps
to reveal the formatting of a field.
F3 -This key
inserts an auto-text in MS Word.
Shift plus F3 -
changes the Case of letters.
Shift plus F5 -
Goes to the last change.
F7 - is for spell
check - spelling and grammar
Shift plus F7 -
brings up the thesaurus
F10 - activates the
menu bar
F11 - generally
goes to the next field or in Microsoft Access XP, the F11 key brings up the
main database window even if it has been hidden away.
Ctrl + Alt + Delete
keys all pressed together terminate an application or bring up the application
box - this is helpful if you have several programs open on your computer and
one of them gets impossibly stuck... while you don't want to terminate the
other programs, however you can end the unresponsive program by bringing up
the application box and closing off the unresponsive program.
Ctrl plus F4 closes
the window - useful if you don't find the 'close' button on a window, and want
to close it.
Here is another neat trick -- a bonus really -
Press Ctrl plus \ (Ctrl plus back slash)
this types a straight vertical line instead of the back slash symbol -- just
like the vertical lines used as separators between the PSP Game download links
above (at the top of this page) - Go take a look.
