Landing Page Design - Bare Bones Of An Instant Hit Sales Mechanism

Business may be slow at present but there are certain products that have been an instant hit even in this slump. I have closely analyzed various such products and followed several of them right from their birth to discover certain common traits. Yes Strip down any such successful online business and you get the following basic elements for instant hit in web marketing:

The Sales Machinery - Landing Page / Sales Website

  • It is usually a 3 page mini-site totally focused on the sale. If you intend to use pay per click advertising - specifically Google Adwords - to get a good quality score, it has to include links to an 'contact us' page, a 'Privacy policy', a 'legal disclaimer page', a few articles pages or even a link to a related blog.

  • The domain name is centered to the product.

  • Graphics if any are totally supportive of the sales copy and professionally done.

  • An auto-responder series course is offered through a pop up on exit - or a slide in ad or slide in video.

  • The product is usually provided as an instant download.

  • Payment is instant through credit card, though other options may also be provided.

  • The only other links on the sales page besides the ‘order now’ link are the affiliate link.

The Sales Copy

  • The sales copy is so good that even the best of us want to plunge in right away.

  • Uses the concept of associative trust by providing incredible testimonials.

  • It is loaded with mouth watering bonuses.

  • Relies upon various psychological tactics to create an urgency to buy.

  • Grossly over delivers.

  • It is totally believable.

The Advertising/ Web Marketing Mechanisms

  • Always offers an amazing affiliate program with excellent commissions.

  • Capitalizes upon the concept of joint ventures with the top names/ gurus/top affiliates around to announce their products.

  • Widely announces their product upon launch through solos in various top ezines, this triggers a chain reaction that sets the ball rolling as the affiliates take over or through joint venture techniques.

  • Creates a brand image about their products by strategically placing well designed and easily recognizable banners at high traffic locations.

  • Uses the concept of viral marketing, by providing some incredible articles or videos that the affiliates can customize with their own links.

Another interesting fact: I noticed such products were usually introduced at a very low price of around $47 . Various tune ups and changes were made to the sales machinery along the way and then the price would shoot up to between $79-$99 . And guess what, I made my very first sales as an affiliate of these products with the price at the high end. (Unless of course if it is one of those ridiculously priced product launches with price ranges in the thousands).

Oh Yes they are certainly not averse to change, but stick to what works once a balance has been reached.
